NEW "R.O.B.E.R.T.’s dollars" (Rewards for Over and Beyond Excellence for each Round of Tennis) for the after-school junior development program. For each drill, game, and challenge you win, every set of targets you knock down, or display exemplary effort and sportsmanship conduct during clinics and matches, you will be rewarded with R.O.B.E.R.T.’s dollars, which are chips that you can redeem for various prizes in the tennis office. Prizes range from candy, drinks and chocolates to pro shop merchandise such as shirts, hats, wrist bands, strings, tennis posters, and many more. Each prize has a different chip value and kids can save up for the more expensive prizes. It has been our collective experience teaching kids that they focus longer, perform better and have greater satisfaction after each practice with a reward system. It encourages healthy competition among their peers and gives them the satisfaction that they won something each time they attend a practice session or match play.
With the 2012 rule change for kids 10 and Under requiring tournament play on smaller courts with lower-bouncing, slower-moving balls and lighter, shorter racquets, Highpoint is offering the "10 and Under" QuickStart playing format on the right sized court and with the right size equipment. This way, kids will develop better technique earlier. With low compression balls and smaller courts, kids have a chance to get to the ball, think about their shot and cover the whole court. The lighter, smaller racquets with grips appropriate for smaller hands allow kids to develop proper swing patterns. Similar to other youth sports, 10 and Under Tennis allows kids to start out right, develop proper technique, and graduate to the next level sooner.
